Pair of Ib Kofod-Larsen Elizabeth Chairs and Ottomans, by Christensen or Larsen
A renowned set of chairs and ottomans, in a richly patinated exposed teak frame with outset armrests, supporting a curved back and seat, fitted with a loose seat cushion. The matching ottomans raise on round tapered legs. One leg has been very skillfully repaired, photo detailing repair in string of photos. Please note the "C" branding mark, cabinet makers signature, on each piece. Presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition, at the Danish Museum of Decorative Arts in 1956, the chair later became famous when Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip purchased a number of these chairs while in Copenhagen in 1958. Ib Kofod-Larsen's most celebrated achievement is the Elizabeth chair and Ottoman, model U-56, executed by Christensen and Larsen.
