A Pair of Post Modern Chairs "Banana Chairs" series By Tom Dixon for Cappellini

About the Item

We offer for sale a pair of chairs designed during the 80s by the brilliant mind of designer Tom Dixon for the Italian company Cappellini. These pair of chairs out of production are "Sisters" of the well-known "S-chair", exhibited in the permanent collection of the MOMA, they too are the result of artisanal rather than industrial production. In fact, the anthracite gray metal structure was forged handcrafted and the banana fiber that covers it is hand-woven. These chairs are part of a larger collection called "Banana Chairs" which it would be reductive to define as simple Post Modern chairs, the totemic shape that distinguishes this series makes them real sculptural chairs that wink at primitivism. They are perfect for being mixed with other types of chairs around a table, perhaps as a head of the table or as side chairs. The condition of these chairs is good, stable, solid and very heavy to lift, they show minimal signs of use on the wicker and oxidation on the iron parts visible in the photos and videos.
