FRENCH INDUSTRIAL STYLE WELDED AND TUMBLED STEEL SIDE CHAIR Item # 1502AKW-n Several years back we acquired a set of French Industrial welded steel chairs that I found absolutely inspiring - the lines were angular and perfect, the form free of any embellishment or distraction, the structure purely architectural and the surfaces rough and full of interest. We sold them rather quickly and have had so many requests for the chairs over the years that we decided to look into having some crafted. We deal in fine antiques and don't build anything, so finding a craftsman capable of creating these chairs for us was not without difficulty, but the result is the presently catalogued piece. The steel surface of this chair is particularly interesting, as we had each component tumbled with bits of nuts, bolts and steel remnants to beat a chaotic antiqued surface into every aspect of the chair before the chair was assembled. The surface is then cleaned carefully and sealed with a lacquer and wax. This minimalist chair is not only a simply gorgeous strike point for the home, but also makes a very fine dining chair. The chair is sold individually and we only carry a very shallow quantity of these, but we can have additional chairs crafted to suit your needs - please note that we currently have a six week lead time on the chairs if you are purchasing more than one chair. Contact us for larger orders, as timing and lead time may change depending on the size of the order. Please note also that each chair surface will be different, as the tumbling and grinding is unpredictable - but that is what makes these so beautiful. Built to last the test of time, this is a piece that is nearly indestructible, brutal in it's simplicity and absolutely gorgeous.
