Set of 4 Solid Wood "Milano" Chairs Designed by Aldo Rossi for Molteni

About the Item

Four Milano model chairs designed in 1987 by Aldo Rossi for the Molteni company. Exhibited in the permanent collection of the Molteni museum, it is currently a fairly rare chair to find because it is out of production. The Milano chairs was small in size and light in weight but of great stability. Inspired by the Renaissance seat Savonarola in which the seat and back were made of parallel slats. The slats of the back of the Milano chairs are slightly curved to fulfill ergonomic criteria. It is constructed in a way that ensures the flexibility of the slats, avoiding creaking, and the solid wooden slats are not glued on but incorporated into the structure of the chairs thanks to individual invisible plastic sheaths.
