Set of Four Louis XV Chairs

About the Item

Set of four Louis XV chairs from about 1750, made in Netherlands. The back of the chairs are elegantly carved in round shapes. The the legs, board and back are covered with flower like inlays in wood. Louis XV (1710 – 1774), known as "Louis the Beloved" was King of France from 1715 until his death in 1774. Louis was a major patron of architecture and his most well known architectual project were Place de la Concorde, the opera theater of the Palace of Versailles and the Pantheon. He also constructed monumental squares and surrounding buildings in the centers of Nancy, Bordeaux, and Rennes. His workshops produced fine furniture, porcelain, tapestries and other goods in the Louis XV Style which were exported to all the capital cities of Europe.
