Set of Six 1950s Italian Chairs Featuring Vintage Upholsteries by Ladoublej

About the Item

Set of six 1950s Italian chairs in the style of Melchiorre Bega, featuring varnished birch wood and newly upholstered seats. All six chairs were sourced in Milan by LaDoubleJ: two chairs feature the brand’s re-issued vintage Tulipani fabric, while the other four feature the re-issued vintage Maiolica print. Both vintage patterns, printed on new cotton fabric in the same colorways, were sourced by LaDoubleJ in the Italian archives of Mantero Seta, one of Lake Como’s oldest silk manufacturers. Tulipani was originally designed in the 1920s by Wallach, a French print company in business from 1860-1925, specialized in hand-drawn and hand painted designs. Maiolica was originally designed in 1991 by Zurich based textile designers Abraham, a historic midcentury supplier run by Gustav Zumsteg who worked with fashion designers such as Christian Dior for his post-war New Look, Hubert de Givenchy, Cristo´bal Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent.
