About the Item

Ben Seibel (1918-1985) was an American industrial designer recognized for popularizing sculptural tableware in American homes across the nation. Seibel was born in New Jersey and studied sculpture and painting before pursuing architecture at Columbia University. He left school to serve in WWII and never completed his schooling. After the war, he set up his own studio and began to create his own dinnerware, glassware and tabletop accessories. He eventually created lines for Iroquois China, Roseville Pottery Company and Mikasa. While he is best known for tableware, he also created vases, bookends and even a select line of furniture, including the ‘Beautiful Dreamer.’
