About the Item

Rare adjustable chaise longue chair by H.W. Klein (Henry Walter Klein). Wonderfully crafted, extremely comfortable lounge chair. Produced by Bramin Møbler in Denmark, 1970. Teak and original fabric. And most important: Very, very comfortable. Designer Henry Walter (H.W.) Klein was born in Norway in 1919. In 1949, he moved to Denmark to study interior design. There, he trained under the prominent Danish designer and architect Finn Juhl. After finishing school in 1952, Klein returned to Norway to establish his own furniture and interiors business. His chairs, tables, and sideboards are characteristic of the postwar Danish modern style, typically involving fine woods like teak and well proportioned, well crafted forms. In 1980 Klein and his family moved to San Francisco to design sofas for the US market. Klein is also renowned for his avant-garde shapes and new tecniques. About us: We specialise in fine works of original twentieth-century design with specific focus on Scandinavian design from the period 1930 to 1960. We are extraordinarily passionate about Kaare Klint and have over the years gained a significant knowledge of his craftmanship and have included many beautiful Kaare Klint pieces in our inventory.
