"Wow" Left or Right Daybed/Chaise Longue with Goose Feather by P. Starck, Driade

About the Item

"Wow" is a left or right chaise daybed/chaise longue, designed by Philippe Starck and manufactured by Driade, featuring a solid wooden structure and plywood panels, covered in a vast sampler of upholstery with removable fabric or fixed leather. Cushions (W. 19.6" x H. 19.6") included. This is the superior version with polyurethane foams and goose feather padding and double stitching profile. Indoor use only. DIMENSIONS: D. 75", W. 55", H. 31.5", Seat H. 15.7" Philippe Starck said about "Wow": "One night I had a dream or, rather, a memory surfaced in my mind. I recall the good times when sofas were comfortable, and we shouted "Wow!", while jumping on them. I felt nostalgic for the past but I thought that it was not bad after all, so i created Wow, the sofa that embraces you." The new sofa designed by Philippe Starck revisits the Royalton sofa, a design icon created in 1988 for Royalton hotel in New York and produced by Driade. Wow is a luxurious modular system. Besides two-seat and three-seat sofas, it includes daybeds or chaise longues and corner elements conceived to define multiple layouts. The shape mirrors its primary function, comfort, ensured by the high enveloping backrest and polyurethane and goose down padding. The Wow collection also includes two brushed stainless steel side tables, with top in Carrara marble or in white painted glass provided with rear LED lighting. PHILIPPE STARCK is an internationally acclaimed French creator, designer and architect. His profound comprehension of contemporary mutations, his determination to change the world, his anticipatory concern for environmental implications, his love of ideas, his desire to defend the intelligence of usefulness and the usefulness of intelligence have accompanied one iconic creation after the other. From everyday products such as furniture and lemon squeezers to revolutionary mega-yachts, individual windmills, electric bikes or hotels and restaurants that aspire to be wondrous, stimulating and intensely vibrant places. This untiring and rebellious citizen of the world, who considers sharing his ethical and subversive vision of a fairer planet as a duty, creates unconventional places and objects whose purpose is to be “good” before being beautiful. Philippe Starck and his wife, Jasmine, mostly live on an airplane or in “middles of nowhere”.

  • Antique Wicker Chaise Longue or Daaybed
    Located in Pasadena, CA
It is quite unusual to find an early 20th century wicker chaise longue in the nearly pristine as this one was found--fresh from a Beverly Hills Estate. This chaise embodies the current Coastal Design aesthetic. There is some minor rubbing to the wicker and a few paint losses plus a couple of paint drips, but overall, the chaise is in wonderful sturdy condition and ready for another 100 years of use. We have elected to leave it in a lightly patinated state, rather than repaint it, as this maintains the character of the chaise. The red ticking...
