About the Item
A lovely post-modern pink and rose gold round dining set. This set includes four upholstered chairs, a rose gold metal pedestal base, and a round pink granite top.
The dining table has a round rose gold metal base. Upon it, sits a large 60" diameter pink granite top. The top is 3 cm thick and has a smooth eased edge.
The chairs are upholstered in a pink and cream flame stitch pattern. The backs are rounded, and the edges of the seats have rounded corners, with soft stitched pleating.
This set was found in the home of one of Oklahoma City's most prominent oilmen. In the late '70s and early '80s, Oklahoma was the mecca of oil money. Before the oil bust in 1982, Oklahoma City residents had the means to treat themselves to the most luxurious of furnishings. (Local folklore is that some had snow machines in their showers, pet tigers in their backyards, and helicopter pads on their roofs.) This time period was the height of luxury in Oklahoma. Also known as "oilies", they were known to decorate lavishly and use the most tasteful designers money could buy.
