Annig Sarian T70 Thalia Oak & Paper Cord Chairs for Tisettanta, Set of 4

About the Item

Set of four T70 'Thalia' chairs designed by Annig Sarian for Tisettanta, Milan. Each chair features a bentwood oak frame with a pronounced arched backrest — two curved rails forming a full semicircular arch above a flat vertical central splat. Legs are cylindrical and rounded, joined by horizontal stretchers on all sides. Seats are woven paper cord in a traditional close-woven pattern. Annig Sarian was an Armenian-Italian designer who worked within Milan's mid-century furniture scene. The Thalia chair was originally produced in beech and ash beginning in the mid-1960s; oak became part of the production range in the 1980s. Tisettanta, founded in Milan, was known for collaborating with independent designers and producing furniture that bridged craft tradition with modernist form. The T70 design draws on bentwood techniques with a silhouette that references both Italian rationalism and broader organic modernist tendencies of the period. The set is well-preserved with minor wear consistent with age and use.
