About the Item
New York Heartwoods' contemporary black walnut Hewitt Dining Chair is influenced by Mid-century Modern and Shaker design, is fabricated for comfort, and features refined joinery, a hand-shaped backrest, faceted seat, and NYH's signature teardrop post legs.
Made by hand in the Hudson Valley by a fully women-owned and operated furniture studio built on a love for the natural world and a passion for thoughtfully hand-crafted timeless designs. NYH uses sustainable, local wood milled from fallen and urban Hudson Valley trees and no-VOC satin-matte oil+wax finishes, unless otherwise specified.

New York Heartwoods
New York Heartwoods (NYH) is a woman-owned and operated fabricator of fine solid wood furniture, using sustainable wood milled from fallen and urban Hudson Valley trees. Founded in 2011 out of our love of forests and our desire to create both beautiful timeless designs and environmental and economic solutions for our community, we impeccably craft unique heirloom-quality furniture and work closely with our clients to create custom pieces for residential and commercial interiors. NYH began as a lumber and slab producer and retailer, sourcing logs from local landowners and tree services. Requests for furniture and retail displays made with that wood soon followed. In Fall 2017, after several years of doing custom fabrication, NYH launched its first collection, some of which is showcased on this platform. With our background in wood production we additionally work with our clients to create finished products from their own trees. Overseeing the milling and drying allows us to produce the materials needed to fabricate pieces to desired specifications, and create furniture that has immeasurable value.
