About the Item

Cidue, dining chair, leather, chrome-plated metal, Italy, 1970s Cantilevered dining room chair with chromed flat tubular steel frame. The seating and back are from thick red to brown colored saddle leather. The leather shows a nice all-over patina, which really highlights the color of the seating and makes it into a vibrant surface. The design of this chair is simple, yet highly effective. The combination of materials gives this chair even more character. Nice round forms are combined and repeated to form a strong and modern design. This particular chair is designed in the manner of Willy Rizzo. Willy Rizzo (1928-2013), born in Naples, was a celebrity and Hollywood photographer. His models include Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn. At a later stage in life, Rizzo discovered that his clientele loved his particular aesthetics and sense for style so much that he decided to design furniture. Often his design where commissions from for example Salvador Dali or Marilyn Monroe. From the end of the 1960s onwards, Rizzo designed about 30 different furniture pieces.
