About the Item
Iconic foldable chair. Designed by Giancarlo Piretti. Made from hard plastic and a chromed steel frame.
They are in very good condition and made of lucite and chrome and the lucite is a lovely mid century smoked colour.
The Plia folding chair is a striking example of Italian minimalism of the middle of the last century and was designed by the designer Giancarlo Piretti for the famous furniture manufacturer Anonima Castelli in the 1960s.
The combination of chromed steel frame with acrylic polypropylene has paved the way for Plia which has become a cult classic. Now part of the permanent collection at MOMA.
4 Chairs produced by Anonima Castelli in the 1960/70s based on a design by Giancarlo Piretti.
Structure in chromed metal.
Seat and back in printed plexiglass.
Plastic feet.
The particularity of this chair is its clever aluminum ball joint connecting the seat, the backrest and the legs, and allowing the chair to occupy a very small space (only 5cm) when folded.
Good general condition, some signs of rust on the structure, some lines on the seat and back.
Dimensions: length 46.5 cm - depth 47.5 cm - height 75 cm - seat height 45 cm
When folded: 4.5cm depth x 88.5cm high
Condition:
The Chrome has been polished and is in very good condition (very light traces of use)
Seat and backrest in Plexiglas, with normal signs of wear.
Minor scratches and a few scuffs on the lucite commensurate with age.
