Set of 6 Hollywood Art Deco Gaufraged Velvet Dining Chairs by Grosfeld House
About the Item
This stunning set of six 1940s Hollywood Regency dining chairs were realized by the esteemed maker Grosfeld House, circa 1945. Grosfeld House was not only one of the most prestigious furniture ateliers of the period, renowned for its classic designs and impeccable quality, but a piece of design history where luminaries such as Vladimir Kagan and Lorin Jackson got their start. These chairs are a stunning testament to the quality and forward looking aesthetic of Grosfeld House at its best. The side chairs offer backs with scalloped tops adorned with stud detailing; rounded seats; and subtle klismos style legs in ebonized walnut. The captains chairs additionally feature stylized scroll form detailing adorning the sides of each back. With their clean modernist lines and beautiful attention to detail, these chairs would be a winning addition to any style of interior from traditional to contemporary. They have been newly reupholstered in a gauffraged crocodile velvet and restored to mint condition.
