Set of Six 18th C. Portuguese Rococo Dining Chairs, Jacaranda Wood, Fortuny F.

About the Item

A set of six Portuguese dining chairs, comprised of five side chairs and one armchair. Mid-18th century. Also known as Jacaranda chairs of the period of Jose I. Each with a shaped pierced back surmounted by a plume feather top above floral decorations. The seat which would have originally been upholstered in tooled leather is now covered in vintage Fortuny. The whole is raised on a shaped and carved apron, terminating in cabriolet legs with pad feet. The legs are joined by a beautifully shaped stretcher. This set of chairs is remarkable and rare. Arm dimensions: 27" W x 48.5" H x 22" D x 20.5" SH x 27.5" AH. Side dimensions: 21.5" W x 46.5" H x 19.5" D x 20" SH.
