About the Item

Magnificent and ultra rare set of twelve Arts & Crafts dining room chairs. Design by Hendrik Petrus Berlage for H. Pander & Zonen. Striking Dutch design from the 1900s. Solid oak frames with the A constructions which was typical for several designs by Hendrik Petrus Berlage. This wonderful set of twelve Arts & Crafts dining room chairs by Hendrik Petrus Berlage was designed for the University of Leiden and executed by the famous furniture company H. Pander & Zonen in The Hague. One chair is marked with the original metal manufacturers tag and stamped with the company name,other chairs are stamped University of Leiden. Hendrik Petrus Berlage was considered the " Father of Modern architecture" in the Netherlands and the intermediary between the Traditionalists and Modernist architects and designers. This set is in very good condition with a beautiful patina and sturdy for daily use!
