20th Century Italian Pair of Modern Vintage Walnut Lounge Chairs by Paolo Buffa

A vintage pair of Mid-Century modern Italian lounge chairs made of hand crafted Walnut designed by Paolo Buffa, in good condition. The detailed club armchairs are composed with a long backrest, the detailed splined sides are made of polished Maplewood, particularized by rounded armrests, standing on four short wooden feet. Newly upholstered in a white bouclé fabric. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1950, Milan, Italy. Seat: 19.5" H x 21.5" W x 20.5" D Paolo Buffa was born in 1903, in Milan, Italy and passed away in 1970. He was an Italian architect and designer. Before Buffa studied at the Polytechnic Institute in Milan, he worked for the Italian architect and designer Gio Ponti. He established his own company with collaborator Antonio Cassi Ramello. Before Buffa passed away, he had been named one of the most important designers in Italy.
