This design by Gerhard Berg, produced by Stokke Fabrikker, was dubbed 'Classic' for its timeless and obvious Classic styling and Silhouette. Topped of with weighted dangles that hold the seat backs in place and give added styling. This rare wingback armchair by Gerhard Berg, circa 1965 is the perfect option for the Mid-Century Modern collector or interior designer trying to find that perfect chair for their client. This lounge chair would work great in a Mid-Century Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a contemporary, Hollywood Regency or Postmodern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Being highly durable, this arm chair would also be an Apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. About the designer: Gerhard Berg (b. 1927) completed his diploma thesis at the State Craft and Art Industry School in 1953, while working briefly for Ingmar Relling. In 1954 he was employed as a draftsman at Vatne Lenestolfabrikk. Berg's interest in new materials in the furniture industry is expressed through his work on several fiberglass seat shells. From the mid-1950s, Berg designed for several furniture manufacturers including LK Hjelle where he designed the overstuffed furniture series 'Norse' and for PI Langlo the Japanese influenced 'Series 1800'. Stokke produced several of Berg's furniture classics, including the 'Aksla' armchair, the 'Classic' armchair and sofa / couch and the furniture series 'Kubus'. Education: 1953 - Diploma, State Craft and Art Industry School Awards and awards: 1958 - 2nd prize, Askim Gummivarefabrikk's competition Measurements:  H 38" x W 32.5" x D 37" Seat height 17.5" Seat depth 20" Arm height 19.5" Condition: Light distressing in the leather, mostly concentrated in the arms. Sturdy and structurally sound. Attractive patina, excellent option for those who love aged and worn leather.
