Brazilian Midcentury Design, Solid Caviuna Armchairs, 1960s
About the Item
This charming pair of armchairs from the 1960s caught our eyes – it was love at first sight. The pieces are made of solid Caviuna with seats in plaited cane.
With large slats and both rectangular and curved details, one of the armchairs’ highlights is the leg fittings, made overlapping the arms pieces – remembering a wood crate.
The system used was part of the industrial constructive reasoning: the armchairs can be easily assembled, stored, and transported. The seats are composed of a gorgeous and well-constructed separated piece.
Among the Brazilian design icons, there is a whole universe of craftsmen and small companies that embraced the modern design, with Brazilian materials and forms — well-designed and quality furniture, still waiting to be known by the public.
The pieces are in very good vintage condition. Wood and cane restoration are included.
