Marvelous pair of chinoiserie Ming style yoke back lounge chairs with a little Hollywood Regency pizzazz attributed to Schnadig Furniture International. Comprised of gorgeous wood, brass, and flame stitch fabric. Beautiful vintage condition with only age appropriate wear and no outstanding flaws detected. Please see photos. Circa Late 20th century. NOTE: We have several other pieces from this collection listed here for sale in case you are interested. These armchairs are simply amazing! Where do we even begin? This is an exceptional pair of yoke back classic Ming style lounge chairs. They are comprised of beautiful hardwood with intricate carved detail on the aprons and a keyhole cutout on the back splat. Gorgeous Asian detail! They are trimmed with brass straps on the yoke arms, have brass corner brackets on all four seat corners, and square brass sabot feet grip the base of the smooth straight legs. Stunning! The seats are upholstered in what we believe is the original flame stitch fabric although it does have a contemporary touch. They are unique and comfortable. These chairs are attributed to Schnadig Furniture, but we have seen similar styles by designer Michael Taylor for Baker Furniture as well. And they do have that James Mont infamous Hollywood Regency flair! They would be perfect in a sitting room, living room, or a bedroom! These lounge chairs will add a perfect splash of high style to any room they inhabit whether your style leans to mid-century modern, traditional, oriental, or Hollywood Regency these lounge chairs need to be in your home! With a proud heritage that can be traced back to 1880, Schnadig International Corp. has long stood for well designed, well-made furniture. Lawrence Schnadig’s first memories of the furniture industry would date back to his childhood going to Pullman Couch Co. with his father on Sunday mornings. He would begin his career with Pullman Couch Co. as a salesman in 1930 shortly after he graduated from The University of PA at the Wharton School of Finance. He later went on to become president of that same company. In 1951, he formed Schnadig Corp. in partnership with Sears, Roebuck & Co. Though Sears' interest was later purchased, it still sells furniture manufactured by Mr. Schnadig's company today. The firm is one of the nation's largest upholstered-furniture manufacturers. He was respected for his dedication, integrity and for the quality of his products. "He was one of the very outstanding leaders in the furniture industry, going all the way back to the 1930s," said Nat Ancell, founder of Ethan Allen furniture, who knew Mr. Schnadig for 67 years. Mr. Schnadig was inducted into the Furniture Hall of Fame in 1990. He was 89 when he died in 1997 and his furniture is still globally integrated and well known for its standards of quality and style.
