Danish Mid-Century Carved Oak Easy Chairs in Oak by Henry Kjaernulf, 1960's
About the Item
Very cool sought after pair of easy chairs by Danish Designer, Henning (Henry) Kjaernulf made from quarter-sawn white oak and hand carved in a brutalist style inspired to art & crafts and even Jacobean styles. Kjaernulfs style is very unique and instantly recognizable and was quite popular in Denmark during the very late 1960’s and up through the 1970’s. The furniture and the Designer has come to enjoy iconic status and the furniture is strongly coming back into vogue. This pair is a little lighter in with less heft than his usual very generous proportions. Still great ergonomics and comfort. The cushions are finished in traditional Scandinavian woven stripe fabric in rich green and tan tones. The existing padding and original fabric remains in clean and still usable condition. We are able to offer reupholstery services at very competitive prices for these pieces. Overall very good condition.
