English William and Mary Period Walnut Carved and Turned Lounging Chair
About the Item
English William and Mary period walnut lounging chair. This handsome tall backed chair has carved scroll arms, beautifully turned legs, front stretcher and "H" stretchers. The back has a nicely shaped top rail. This chair was designed for "lolling" , that is relaxing and would often have been found adjacent to a fireplace. The upholstery could do with a change; it is about 30 years old and shows its age. We chose not to reupholster it,( not to put another set of nails into the frame unnecessarily) so you could chose the fabric that was best suited to your needs. Circa 1685.
