Fine Pair of Art Deco Style Macassar and Leather Lounge Chairs, Interior Crafts

About

A rare pair of incredibly well conceived chairs by Interior Crafts of Chicago, this exquisite duo is crafted in the Art Deco taste with faceted aprons and conforming cushions. An overall rounded form is carried through the shoulders and into the swollen baluster front legs, each with deep fluting surrounding each leg, finished in a tiny painted ivory ball crest and terminating in painted spherical toes. The gorgeous top grain leather covering is in beautiful vintage condition with a mellow patina, remaining soft and perfectly pliable with traces of history worn into the surface. These are probably the most comfortable pair of chairs we have sat in for several years now, the back and sides perfectly hugging the sitter while the cushion has excellent support and the leather a warm silky touch. A rare form by a leader in the field of American design during the middle of the 20th century, these are a most fine selection for anyone passionate about exquisite decor.

Condition report:
Tops of arms reveneered, lower four inches of one leg reveneered, some repairs to veneer of apron, all feet repainted. Original gray leather, soft and plush; age appropriate wear and color loss to leather, overall excellent condition. Undersides shown uncovered, though new cambric has since been installed. We have additional images available upon request.
