About the Item

Pair of armchairs, stained beech, velvet, brass, France, circa 1930 These beautifully designed lounge chairs are created in one of the most influential periods for the arts namely the Art Deco Movement. These rare lounge chair originate from France and show strong resemblance to the aesthetics of the French designer Éric Bagge (1890-1978) for Mercier frères. A rather remarkable design that is based on fluid lines and round shapes. Notice how the backrest smoothly runs over to the front, transitioning in curved, wooden supports. Another noteworthy feature is the choice of materials that are in great harmony. The body of the chair is executed in a brown velvety fabric adorned with brass nails and the frame is executed in blond wood. This pair exemplify the artistry and distinctive craftsmanship of the designer and can therefore be placed in the heart of one's interior. Please note that the fabric and wood show visible signs of wear and use. Restoration is possible before shipping by our experienced craftsman and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier.
