Josep Palau Oller, pair of lounge chairs, stained beech, leather, brass, Barcelona, Spain, circa 1930
Beautifully constructed pair of lounge chairs of Spanish origin designed by Josep Palau Oller (1888-1961). The design embodies an evolved rustic character with great quality of elegance. This is discernible in the wooden frame which is based on a construction of sharp horizontal and vertical lines. The seat is upholstered in a fine brown leather upholstery and secured to the frame by means of brass studs. This design exemplifies the 30s Spanish aesthetic.
We would like to bring to your attention that the wood exhibits visible indications of wear and usage, including a fissure present in one of the armrests. In addition, we recommend a new application of varnish. Restoration can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsmen and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
