We think this rare pair of Michael Taylor model 899 lounge chairs by Baker are simply exquisite. They have a beautiful architecture which reminds us of some of the more restrained designs by George Nelson, but they embrace luxury materials with frames of rich bronze capped with rosewood armrests. The frames support upholstered seats newly recovered in ivory linen fabric. Clean lined and understated, the subtlety of the patina on the bronze and the dark oiled rosewood makes them very visually satisfying.
The chairs have been restored the seats reupholstered and the wood refinished, however we have left the beautiful patina on the bronze frames untouched.
