- 2 Jerry Johnson Landes PVC Outdoor Idyllwild Lounge Chairs Green Mesh UpholsteryBy Jerry Johnson, Landes Manufacturing Co.Located in Topeka, KSFun and bright pair of white PVC Idyllwild outdoor lounge chairs with Kelly green mesh upholstery and sling designed by Jerry Johnson for Landes Manufacturing Co. They are in good vintage condition. There are signs of yellowing and some scratches to the PVC due to age and outside use. The mesh upholstery has been cleaned but does still show some signs of age including fading. I like them as is but you may prefer to recover. They are priced accordingly. Please see photos. We are selling them as a pair, circa 1960s-1970s. This pair of outdoor lounge chairs is just too cool!! They are called the Idyllwild chair and designed by Jerry Johnson for Landes Manufacturing Co. circa 1968. Johnson was also involved in creating the “new” material called polyvinyl chloride, or PVC plastic which he formed into tubes and slats to produce not only the Idyllwild chair but several other bent tubular-frame designs. This pair has a Kelly-green mesh sling as well as back and seat cushions. They are adorned with white contrasting buttons. I’m going to quote an excerpt from the book California Design by Jo Lauria and Suzanne Baizerman that best describes these chairs: Johnson’s Idyllwild chair and lounge chair and ottoman revealed the versatility of the material and its rich design possibilities. The Idyllwild chair, made of interlocking PVC tubes rolled down at the edges, presented a casual and whimsical form, while the flowing, curved geometries of the tubular-framed lounge chair and ottoman gave a move elegant and elevated presence to outdoor furnishings. Each expressed a boldness that was highly regarded by the exhibition jury. These super cool outdoor chairs will be absolutely perfect on your patio, deck or porch. We are totally in love...Category

- Vintage Mid-Century Modern Club Lounge Chair by Flair Division for BernhardtBy BernhardtLocated in Topeka, KSHandsome Mid-Century Modern club chair or lounge chair from the Flair Division of Bernhardt Furniture. It is in wonderful vintage condition and wearing its original light turquoise blue nubby fabric. It has been professionally cleaned but the fabric does have fading as you would expect and there are still stains but no holes or tears. It will be at its best recovered. It is priced accordingly. Please see photos, circa 1960s. I must tell you when we walked into the home where we obtained this chair and many of our other recent and soon to be offerings, I thought if I was ever going to faint this is the time. Of course, the house itself blew me away and then……the original furniture and art in all its glory. This chair is part of a three-piece living room suite by Bernhardt Furniture Flair Division and we are offering all three pieces this week. This club chair with its Lawson styling and loose cushions is really comfy; plus, it is held up off the floor with a fabulous base. The base or legs are comprised of a pair of walnut planks turned upright and running from front to back on each side of the chair. Simple yet dynamic. Bernhardt Furniture was established in 1889 by John Mathias Bernhardt and has been going strong for over 125 years. He spent many years out west in Oregon Territory. After a serious illness, traveling back home to Lenoir, North Carolina and working as a logger in the densely forested foothills of Grandfather Mountain...Category
