Pair of Johannes Brynte Lounge Chairs in Sheepskin and Ash Wood, Sweden, 1940s

About the Item

This rare pair of lounge chairs was designed by Johannes Brynte and produced by his company Bryntes Möbler in Sweden in the 1940s. The organic lines and curved backrest give the design a striking and inviting appearance. The chairs have been fully reconditioned and the entire interior upholstery has been renewed, resulting in a great seating comfort. The warm honey colored natural sheepskin has a wonderful, very soft texture. The tapered legs in stained solid ash wood have been restored. Bryntes Möbler was established in 1919 in Gävle by Johannes Brynte (1895-1953). Initially, the business was located on Drottninggatan 16 but was gradually placed on Södra Centralgatan 13. Some of the furniture had been completed by Johannes Brynte himself. Brynte had the bases and frames made by cabinetmakers in Småland and his own company completed the pieces with upholstery and model work.
