About

Set of two lounge chairs / easy chairs designed by the American Industrial designer Norman Bel Geddes (1893-1958). The chairs designed in 1949, and produced in USA around 1950. The chairs are in beechwood legs, upholstered with loop fabric, one chair orange-red, the other in pear-green. Original upholstery. Bel Geddes described his design philosophy "Streamlining" in his book 'Horizons' (1932) which resulted in the eponymous design style of the 1930s. The pair of lounge chairs are excellent example of his style executed in furniture design. The thick seats and backrests are teardrop shaped, a form Bel Geddes believed was superior. Resting on four tapered, conical legs. The design is simplistic with sharp lines. The chairs are elegant, comfortable and just two stand-out pieces in any environment.
