Rare and beautiful pair of lounge chairs by italian sculptor and artist Franz T Sartori for Flexform, Milan Italy, circa 1965. Sartori is best known for his organic form sculptors but he also had a brief foray into designing furniture which also reflected his sculptural aesthetic. The sculptural lines of these chairs is really set off by the mohair upholstery and the exquisite sculptural form stained hardwood base. The upholstery on these chairs has been completely restored including new original specification rubber seat support webbing by Pirelli ,new original specification latex foam. And very high quality De Ploeg 'Musco' mohair fabric. A very similar revised edition of these chairs was published in the September 1967 edition of the famous italian design journal 'rivista dell arredamento'., please see images 9 and 10. Flexform was a company always at the forefront of modern italian design producing avant garde classics such as Joe Colombo's iconic 'tube' chair.
