An exceptional pair of Model IS-63 "Scimitar" lounge chairs designed by the celebrated Danish partnership of Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm. Among the designers' most iconic creations, these chairs embody the refined minimalism and sculptural elegance that defined Scandinavian design during the 1960s.
The instantly recognisable silhouette is formed by a single sweeping stainless steel frame, its graceful curved profile inspiring the "Scimitar" name. Suspended within this architectural structure is a beautifully tailored cognac leather sling seat, creating a striking contrast between the cool precision of the brushed steel and the warmth and character of the natural leather.
Originally produced for Illums Bolighus, the IS-63 reflects the designers' shared pursuit of timeless form and uncompromising craftsmanship. Fabricius' background in cabinetmaking and Kastholm's training as a silversmith are evident in the impeccable balance of material, proportion and engineering. The leather seat naturally conforms to the body, providing exceptional comfort while maintaining the chair's remarkably light visual appearance.
