Restored Vintage Poul Jensen for Selig Z Chair, New Leather, Denmark, 1950s

About the Item

An iconic example of Danish Modern design, this Z Chair was designed by Poul Jensen and produced by Selig in Denmark during the late 1950s. Celebrated for its sculptural form and architectural clarity, the Z Chair remains one of the most recognizable and enduring designs of the Scandinavian modern movement. The chair features the distinctive Z shaped profile created by the angled relationship between the arms and legs, giving the piece both its name and its striking visual presence. The solid wood frame has been professionally restored and refinished, allowing the natural grain and warmth of the wood to come forward while preserving the integrity of the original design. This example has been newly upholstered with brand new cushions in genuine leather, carefully selected to complement the form and period of the chair. New webbing support has been installed to ensure comfort and longevity, making the chair suitable for both daily use and collection. The restoration respects the original proportions and craftsmanship while offering a refined and elevated presentation. Poul Jensen’s work for Selig was instrumental in bringing Danish Modern furniture to an international audience in the postwar era. The Z Chair stands as one of his most collected designs, admired for its balance of comfort, function, and sculptural restraint. It works equally well in modern, minimalist interiors and more traditional architectural settings. This chair presents beautifully and is ready for immediate placement, offering a rare combination of design pedigree, craftsmanship, and thoughtful restoration. 29.5″ Wide x 32″ Deep x 27″ High
