Set of 2, Pierre Jeanneret Kangaroo Chairs

About the Item

Experts on Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier take note. These striking examples show several unique characteristics. Specifically, they are each designed with four matching wood “lock” corner pieces. These locks were utilized to strengthen the four pressure joints on each chair. Indeed, the same design often appears on the legs Le Corbusier/Jeanneret "Boomerang" conference table (last picture) as well as other furniture designs from the Chandigarh project. Additionally, these chairs show original "cut out" repairs where a damaged part was precisely removed and replaced with a matching small (about 3 inches) block of wood. Both of these details add so much character to what is already an iconic chair. The frame and rattan of both chairs have been carefully conserved in New York City by a well-known restoration studio with expertise in original Pierre Jeanneret furniture.
