South African Cabinetmaker Rocking Lounge Chair in Mohair and Solid Wood 1930s

About the Item

South African Cabinetmaker Rocking Lounge Chair in Mohair and Solid Wood 1930s. It is not very often you come across something as special as this rocking chair. A unique piece, made by a skilled South African cabinetmaker. It was bought from the family who owned it for nearly one hundred years and who moved it from South Africa to The Netherlands a long time ago. A very elegant design, this chair resembles pieces by Jean Royère and Jindřich Halabala. The curved armrests and sculptural feet make a wonderful combination with the voluminous upholstered seat and backrest which shows a very elegant curvature. Very comfortable and due to an internal rocking mechanism the chair does not look like a traditional rocking chair. This unique chair is totally restored and reupholstered in a very high end ochre colored mohair fabric.
