Dutch Art Deco Blue Loveseat with Oak Frame

About the Item

Compact Dutch Art Deco loveseat with an oak frame and blue upholstery. The frame runs along the outer arms, across a curved base rail, and terminates in small block feet. Chamfered corners where the back meets the arms give the piece its characteristic geometric quality, and the arms taper slightly inward toward the seat. The back and sides are fully upholstered as an integrated unit, with a single loose seat cushion. The oak frame retains a warm amber tone throughout. Dutch Art Deco furniture of the interwar period frequently combined geometric structural forms with upholstered seating volumes, reflecting broader European modernist influences filtered through Dutch craft traditions. The exposed wood framing used here as both structural element and decorative trim is typical of the period's approach to seating design, where the frame was as much a visual feature as a structural one. The frame is in original condition and shows wear consistent with age and use. Maintains an upholstery emblem from the 1960s, placed by the Arie Piron Upholstery company and shows minor soiling on the seat cushion and lower arm areas.
