Gothic Curule Armchair in Carved Walnut, France, circa 1880
About the Item
Beautiful curule / armchair / "dagobert" / throne in carved solid walnut.
Carvings of acanthus leaves on the armrests, mascaron / head of demon / lion in the center, and "bushel" motifs of the back of the chair derived from the royal fleur-de-lys.
Neo / Revival Gothic / Renaissance style, France, around 1880.
In superb condition, professional restoration: stripping, treatment against xylophages, polished waxed finish. Beautiful patina.
