A stunning Mid-Century Modern five-piece modular sectional sofa by John Mascheroni for Swaim Originals, circa 1970s. An iconic piece of furniture that has remained in a single collection since it was acquired by the prior owner, and the original label remains affixed beneath one section (John Mascheron Signature Collection Ltd.) Sofa is fully upholstered with excellent proportions and overall form, lending support and comfort while becoming an absolute statement piece. Features (3) single sections, (2) corner/arm sections upholstered in original high-quality, versatile beige gabardine wool, resting on an upholstered recessed plinth base, remaining in a rare and sturdy state of preservation throughout. The frame and cushions and upholstery are in great shape and extremely comfortable. This modular sectional sofa allows you to customize your look! Three of the pieces are the same dimension increasing its layout functionality. Adding to the flexibility of this sectional, the (2) corner/arm sections can be used as either an arm or a corner and the armless sections can be used as standalone side chairs. This modern Classic sofa adds versatility and can be assembled in several different configurations to fit your needs. This is a very tasteful and perfectly designed sofa with the perfect balance between style and comfort. Renowned and revered within the furniture world as a true visionary, he is the recipient of countless awards for his work, which is often equated with contemporary sculpture. In the early 1960s John Mascheroni partnered with Swaim Inc. “You develop a collection over the years that has consistency and a point of view. John Mascheroni Swaim Glenn Swaim Sr. started manufacturing furniture in Winston-Salem NC in 1945 In the 1970s, the second generation of the Swaim family stepped into the business, and the company officially became Swaim Originals. Swaim partnered with designer John Mascheroni, together they designed and produced the company’s first collection of contemporary furniture, which was sold exclusively through Bloomingdale’s in New York. With the success of that effort, the company transformed its focus to contemporary designs.
