About

Beautiful and unique sculptural form five-piece modular sofa designed by architect, designer and sculptor Angelo Mangiarotti in 1969 for the 'Casa Vitale' in Milan, Italy. This sofa is a unique, one off , artisan crafted design by Mangiarotti for the home of his close friend Augusto Vitale, and hence is the sole example of this beautiful Mangiarotti design in existence. This sofa is fully certified and is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity from Edoardo Nava Mangiarotti of the Angelo Mangiarotti archive in Milan, Italy confirming that it is a unique piece and confirming the provenance as stated.

This beautiful sectional sofa is comprised of five elements including one corner element, the four standard sectional sofa elements can equally be used as four separate lounge chairs should you wish.

This sofa is a true work of art, the interlocking seat cushion creates a wonderful and elegant sculptural interplay of volumes and proportion fitting of the fine sculptor that Mangiarotti was, a unique design and a minimalist masterpiece.

This upholstery of this sofa has undergone a complete restoration, the original foam has been replaced throughout and the upholstery has been renewed in high quality Danish 'Kvadrat Hallingdal 65’ fabric design by Danish master designer Nanna Ditzel. Please see image number 10 for photo of this sofa prior to restoration, the original fabric was worn and tired and the foam was crumbling.

We still have the original orange fabric should the buyer wish to keep it for historical provenance.

Please note if you find the seating height a little low for your requirements we can have the feet adjusted to a slightly higher height to accomodate.

Photos of the entire restoration process are available to the buyer.

A unique opportunity to acquire a piece of history by one of the most important italian designers and architects of the 20th century.
