18th Century Painted Venetian Settee
About the Item
`Antique 18th century Venetian settee in beautifully aged old painted and worn parcel gilded surface. Early construction. Losses to gilding showing underlying gesso and bare wood. Pale green paint on front and blue green paint on rear are original. Worn green vine decoration / red flower decoration are old but later enhancements w/ touch ups. Covered in old worn but not original upholstery at front back and seat w/ earlier fabric, burlap underneath. Old worn silk upholstery at back surrounded with gold metallic trim. Some wood loss to top of arms where they join the frame. Selling as found antique condition from old Western NY estate. Beautiful early survivor.
