Late 19th Century White Wrought Iron French Settee

About the Item

A quite exceptional late 19th century pair of French patio/orangery Settee. This is a beautiful wrought iron large settee, with the most intricate decorative detailing and workmanship throughout. An abundance of flowers and leaves decorate the sides and backs of the chairs, with beautiful original hand painted colours and aged patina. Made in France at the latter end of the 19th century, this would grace any interior space. We have had the settee re-upholstered in a soft neutral linen style cotton fabric. The seat cushions and back pads are fully padded along with the small curved padded arm rests All the upholstered pieces are fixed in place, attached to the frame not loose. This wrought iron settee is stunning and we've not seen another like it. They are rare and extremely unique. Of large proportions and heavy, with blacksmithing techniques, repousse details and decorative tole ware flower work. The craftsmanship is incredible and the hours of work, countless Some of the leaves and flowers have been lost over the years as these are fine and delicately made, images to show these are attached. Settee dimensions: width 189cm, height 106cm, depth 74cm, seat h 42cm, depth of seat pad 65cm, total seating width inside arms 178cm.
