Italian Mid-19th Century Neoclassical Style Settee

About the Item

An exquisite Italian mid 19th century neo-classical st. settee with an Egyptian revival influence. The light green patinated frame is stunningly decorated with giltwood designs throughout and three matching upholstered pillows. The settee is raised by four tapered topie shaped feet in the front with rosette blocks and straight tapered legs at the back. Each covered armrest is decorated with a spectacular carved sphinx support. At the top is a foliate Vitruvian scrolled design with a central urn and griffins, below the curved Rai de Coeur designed top border. With all original gilt throughout.
