Mahogany Settee, England, circa 1795
An unusual circa 1795, English George III period settee in Sheraton style of solid mahogany construction and rectangular form having four section 'ladder' back with inlaid tablet form crest-rail sections connecting reeded and acanthus carved 'stiles' with reeded down-swept arms and supports capped with acanthus carved terminals above raised panel carved corner-blocks joining the plain seat-rail surmounting horse-hair upholstered seat on front turned tapering front legs and splayed rear all with original cast brass casters.
