About the Item

An Austrian Biedermeier period walnut side chair from the mid 19th century, with heart shaped back, red and gold fabric and saber hind legs. Created in Austria during the Biedermeier period in the second quarter of the 19th century, this side chair captures our attention with its beautiful heart-shaped pierced back accented with a petite black sphere. The seat is covered with a red and gold fabric with geometric motifs and rosettes in diamonds, accented with a galon trim. The chair is raised on four legs, saber in the back and tapering in the front. Derived from the Empire and Directoire styles, Biedermeier is recognized by and valued for its restrained yet classical elegance. With its stunning back, lovely walnut veneer and complimenting colors, this Austrian Biedermeier period side chair circa 1840 will bring an undeniable touch of class to any home setting, where it will blend with a traditional, modern or transitional décor.
