English Early 18th Century Queen Anne Walnut Side Chair with Cabriole Legs

About the Item

English Queen Anne walnut side chair with cabriole legs, pad front feet, turned stretcher connecting back legs, and slip seat. This elegant chair has a graceful curved tall back with handsome central solid walnut shaped splat. The timber was carefully chosen for the splat with the heartwood centered perfectly. The skirt is gracefully shaped on the front as well as the sides. This chair comes from the Estate of Thomas and Jeannette Hackett, long time antique dealers and collectors. It was purchased by them in England in the early 1970's.

  • Condition:
    Reupholstered. Repaired: The two back legs have had repairs at about the stretcher level done in the 19th or early 20th century. These have remained tight and the legs firm. There is one added glue block under the slip seat where one was missing. Wear consistent with age and use. The slip seat has been reupholstered several times.
