1990s Gerard van den Berg 'High Noon' Cognac Leather Sofa, Chrome Frame

About the Item

1990s Gerard van den Berg 'High Noon' cognac colored leather Sofa with chrome frame. Designed by Gerard van den Berg under his independent 'Gerard van den Berg Design' studio during the 1990s, the 'High Noon' sofa represents his work between his tenure at Montis and the founding of Label. Van den Berg collaborated with European manufacturers including Molteni, Perobell, and Wittmann during this period, producing furniture that drew on his Dutch Mid-Century roots while pushing toward a more expressive, sculptural direction. The 'High Noon' is defined by its dramatically angled high backrest, thick wrap around armrests, and its low-slung seat. Upholstered in cognac leather with three loose throw pillows, the sofa sits on a contrasting chrome frame with wood-tipped feet. The leather panels are stitched in sections across the back and seat, reinforcing the structured, architectural quality of the design. Sofa shows some wear consistent with age and use, including surface scratching, creasing, and uneven discoloration to the leather, particularly on the seat cushions and armrests. The backrest retains a lighter tone than the heavily worn seat areas.
