Mid-Century Modern Cube Sofa by Brazilian Designer Jorge Zalszupin, 1970s

About the Item

The cube sofa was designed by Jorge Zalszupin (1922-2020) in the 1970s. The elegance, a feature of Zalszupin designs, on this piece does not come from sculpted wood details or the delicacy and lightness of curves but the well-shaped solid structure: an extremely comfortable sofa carved in a cube. Zalszupin's work as a designer, entrepreneur, and manager is an example of a transition process from the artisanal production mode, with unique and custom pieces, to serial industrial production. The Polish-born Brazilian designer focused mainly on acquiring and using new technologies and materials to make serial production viable. This piece is a gorgeous example of his inventive mind. This unrestored Cube sofa is in very good vintage condition, including the original foam – extremely comfortable. Upholstery service is included as a courtesy, using a fabric according to the customer's taste.
