We are delighted to offer for sale is this circa 1890 original Swedish aged brown leather Chesterfield fully sprung sofa This sofa base is absolutely huge in terms of how it sits from the floor, it’s very high for a chesterfield sofa. This is by far and away the most comfortable you will ever find, I’ll explain in more detail below about the seat platform but this is a 10/10 compared to standard Chesterfields It’s a fantastic looking and well-made piece, the base platform is a traditional Victorian hand coil sprung affair, the piece de resistance on this sofa is the front panel is also sprung, what that means is on a normal sofa you have a long solid piece of timber running across the front and it sits behind your knee at the bend, on this sofa it is fully coil sprung so when you sit up or down instead of feeling that firmness you have a lovely comfortable spring! It is fantastically complicated and expensive to manufacture and only the absolute finest crafted pieces have it I have included two pictures of me pushing my fist into the sofa, this is so you can see the complete frame and base are all sprung, it crunches when you push down which is the sound original horse hair makes We have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished it from top to bottom, there are some patina marks on the bottom right pillar above the wooden leg, otherwise, its seems in fine order throughout Dimensions: Height 80cm Width 186cm Depth 90cm. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
