The word strings evokes a vision of lightness in our minds. Be it the strings of a musical instrument or textile strings of everyday use. An elegant paradox emerges when strings are made of the hard steel and defined into cabinets and credenzas. Designer Nika Zupanc magically achieves lightness and transparency in the Strings collection for Scarlet Splendour, taking “strings” of metal and transforming them into path breaking furniture. There is an influence of waves in this collection as well, inspired by the sounds of the sea and the forms that waves take, in the sofas and tables.

Nika Zupanc
Based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, product and interior designer Nika Zupanc not only has her own brand but also collaborates with renowned design companies like Dior, Moooi and Moroso.
“I believe that storytelling is, first and foremost, a very important part of contemporary design,” Zupanc says. “Design can be a powerful tool for spreading a message or simply asking a question, making people think and wonder.”
All Zupanc's creations, which are meant to evoke emotions, adhere to the concept of “form follows function” and, as she says, “challenge the rational, sober and utilitarian by giving voice to the intuitive, eclectic and intimate.”

Scarlet Splendour
Ashish Bajoria and Suman Kanodia founded Scarlet Splendour in 2014. The siblings grew up in Kolkata, India with a deep sense of appreciation for the aesthetic. They combined their mutual passion for design to form Scarlet Splendour, with a view to integrate their maximalist sensibilities and become, possibly, the first design editors in India. They set out to create trailblazing furniture, lighting, and rugs on the borders of classical and modern, whimsical and serious, and functional and dramatic. Scarlet Splendour has collaborated with international stores, press agencies, artists, and designers to transform and take local craftsmanship to global levels. The company heralds a blend of the cultures and transcends geographical boundaries to achieve the extraordinary in the design world. Scarlet Splendour was launched at Spazio Rossana Orlandi during the Milan Design Week 2015. Their debut collections were born out of the genius of Matteo Cibic from Vicenza, Italy. He has won the 2017 Elle Decor International Design Award in the Young Talent category. In addition to Matteo Cibic's designs, the Scarlet Splendour portfolio contains a range of work from Dario Contessotto, Mirco Colussi, and Nika Zupanc. Since Milan 2015, Scarlet Splendour has increased its collaborations with designers of international acclaim and has a formidable repertoire of design products. Scarlet Splendour combines its exquisite artistry with immaculate design to evoke decadence and timelessness.
