We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning exceptionally rare original early Victorian tobacco brown leather fully restored Chesterfield buttoned sofa This is the model that everyone wants, it is the 100% perfect and correct oversized club model, the arms are easily 100% larger than later and reproduction models, the frame is coil sprung everywhere, arms, back, base, the padding is all horse hair which was the finest wadding of its day, you can tell because it crunches everywhere. The original Chesterfield sofas are pretty much the only chesterfields that are actually comfortable, pretty much all others are hard on your lower back, this is sprung as mentioned so offers a wonderful seat. The feet are solid Walnut and have been specially made for this sofa, they have been removed, polished, had a modern metal axle fitted so they can now be screwed in and out The sofa has been fully restored as you can see, the leather had naturally faded back to the plain colour of the hide, its been hand dyed to this lovely tobacco brown colour by my leather polishers, simply put this sofa is the finest example you will find anywhere today Dimensions: Height 74.5cm Width 227cm Depth 91.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
